South Carolina vs. USC Set for “The Real SC” Showdown in Coast-to-Coast Series
South Carolina and Southern California women’s basketball programs have announced a two-game series titled “The Real SC” to determine which collegiate powerhouse truly deserves the “SC” moniker.
The inaugural matchup will take place on November 15, 2025, at Crypto Arena in Los Angeles, hosted by Complete Sports Management and broadcast live on FOX. The second game is scheduled for November 15, 2026, at Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville, South Carolina.
“We are excited to participate in this high-quality, highly-anticipated event,” said Southern California head coach Lindsay Gottlieb, noting that challenging premier programs like South Carolina is key to their growth strategy.
South Carolina head coach Dawn Staley emphasized her commitment to elevating women’s basketball through strategic scheduling: “I like Complete Sports Management’s creativity in bringing not just two great programs together but engaging their fan bases on both coasts in a debate they already love to have.”
The matchup features two historically successful programs currently at the top of national rankings. Southern California brings a storied legacy including two NCAA championships, three Women’s Final Fours, and 19 NCAA Tournament appearances. South Carolina, which has risen to elite status under Staley’s leadership, has claimed three NCAA titles (including two of the last three) along with six Women’s Final Fours and 20 NCAA Tournament appearances.
Complete Sports Management President Lea Miller-Tooley expressed enthusiasm about showcasing women’s college basketball excellence on both coasts: “We are proud to put on display the competitive excellence and prestige of these programs.”
Most recently, South Carolina defeated Texas to win the SEC championship, while USC advanced to the Big Ten championship final before falling to UCLA.
