WNBA Releases 2025 Schedule; Regular Season Begins May 16

The WNBA unveiled the schedule for its 29th season, which tips off on Friday, May 16, 2025. The regular season, spanning a record 44 games per team, will run through Thursday, Sept. 11, followed by the WNBA Playoffs. The season also includes the fifth annual Commissioner’s Cup and the 2025 AT&T WNBA All-Star Game.

The league will announce the complete television and streaming schedule at a later date.  WNBA teams can begin negotiating with free agents on Sunday, Jan. 21. Free agents can begin signing contracts with teams on Thursday, Feb. 1.

Commissioner’s Cup:

  • 36-game schedule from June 1-17
  • Each team plays every other team in its conference once
  • Top team from each conference competes in the Commissioner’s Cup Championship on Tuesday, July 1
  • $500,000 prize pool plus $120,000 in cryptocurrency

Additional Highlights:

  • New York Liberty and Minnesota Lynx (2024 WNBA Finals) meet four times
  • Las Vegas Aces and New York Liberty (2023 WNBA Finals, 2024 Semifinals) meet three times
