WBCA Announces 2024-25 Wade Watch List
The Wade Trophy is an annual award given to the top women’s college basketball player in the United States. Established in 1978, it’s the oldest and most prestigious national player of the year award in women’s college basketball. It honors the late Lily Margaret Wade, a legendary coach who led Delta State University to three consecutive national championships. Since 2001, the Wade Trophy has been awarded to the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) NCAA Division I Player of the Year.
Selection Process
- A “Wade Watch” list of candidates is created by the WBCA NCAA Division I Awards Committee.
- The committee may add players to the list midseason based on their performance.
Award Announcement
The winner is revealed each April at the WBCA Convention, which will be held in Tampa, Florida, during the 2025 NCAA Women’s Final Four.
