NCAA Announces Regional Hosts for 2027 and 2028 DI Women’s Basketball Championship

The NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Committee chose Las Vegas, Philadelphia, Portland, and Washington, D.C. to host regional rounds for the 2027 and 2028 NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Championship.

In 2027, regional play will take place from March 26-29, with Las Vegas (T-Mobile Arena) and Philadelphia (Wells Fargo Center) each hosting six regional games. The 2028 regional rounds will be held March 24-27, with Portland (Moda Center) and Washington, D.C. (Capital One Arena) as hosts. Notably, this will be Las Vegas’ first time hosting since 1991 and Washington D.C.’s since 1997. Philadelphia last hosted a regional in 2011, while Portland previously hosted in 2024.

“The selection of Las Vegas, Philadelphia, Portland, and Washington, D.C. underscores the remarkable growth of the Division I Women’s Basketball Championship,” said Lynn Holzman, NCAA vice president of women’s basketball. “These cities are recognized as epicenters of the sport, with a strong record of hosting successful events.”

The committee introduced the two-site regional format in 2023, which has driven record attendance. The 2024 regional rounds in Albany, New York, and Portland saw a total of 103,587 fans, averaging 12,948 per session.

“The two-site format has delivered tremendous results, and we anticipate continued growth with the four cities chosen for 2027 and 2028,” said committee chair Derita Dawkins.

Looking ahead, regional play for 2025 will be held in Birmingham, Alabama, and Spokane, Washington, while Fort Worth, Texas, and Sacramento, California will host in 2026.
