Delta becomes official airline partner of the WNBA in multiyear deal

Delta Air Lines and the WNBA announced a multiyear partnership, with Delta becoming the league’s official airline partner. Earlier this season, Delta expanded its WNBA charter program, coinciding with the league’s introduction of a full charter program for the 2024 season. Under this expanded agreement, Delta will now be responsible for transporting all 12 WNBA teams throughout the regular season and playoffs.

Delta CEO Ed Bastian expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership, stating, “Partnering with the WNBA aligns perfectly with our values of teamwork and perseverance. We’re excited to serve these outstanding athletes as they travel, and to continue our support for women’s sports.”

WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert also highlighted the significance of the collaboration, noting, “Delta Air Lines is not only committed to excellence and innovation but also shares our dedication to empowering women’s sports. This partnership will enhance the travel experience for our players and emphasize our mutual goal of growing and increasing visibility for women’s athletics. With Delta’s support, we’re excited to take the WNBA to new heights and engage with our fans in meaningful ways.”

As the official airline partner, Delta plans to leverage this partnership through WNBA media platforms, including broadcast, digital, print, and social media, to share travel-related stories. The airline will also have opportunities to highlight the WNBA and its players’ off-the-court journeys through its own digital and social media channels.
