WNBA Announces Landmark Deals With Disney, Amazon Prime, and NBCUniversal
The WNBA announced the renewal of its partnerships with The Walt Disney Company and Amazon Prime Video, as well as a new agreement with NBCUniversal (NBCU). The league is expected to add additional media partners for the 2026 season.
The new media agreements arrive during a crucial phase of expansion for the WNBA, building on the momentum from a historic beginning to its 28th season. In recent months, the league has welcomed its most highly anticipated rookie class, unveiled new teams in the San Francisco/Bay Area and Toronto markets, and achieved unprecedented milestones in viewership, attendance, merchandise sales, social media interaction, League Pass subscriptions, and app downloads.
- Beginning in 2026 through 2036, Disney, NBCU, and Amazon have secured distribution rights for WNBA games:
- Disney will air games on ABC, ESPN, and ESPN2 and stream them on ESPN’s direct-to-consumer service.
- NBCU will distribute games on NBC, USA Network, and Peacock.
- Amazon will globally stream games on Prime Video.
- The new agreements ensure over 125 regular-season and playoff games annually:
- Disney: Minimum 25 regular-season games.
- NBCU: 50 regular-season games.
- Prime Video: 30 regular-season games.
- Disney and NBCU will broadcast games in key international markets, while Prime Video will distribute globally to its 200+ million Prime members.
- During the WNBA Playoffs and Finals, Disney will air two first-round series annually, NBCU and Prime Video will each broadcast one first-round series yearly.
- Semifinals and Finals distribution over the 11-year term:
- Disney: 8 Semifinals and 5 Finals.
- Prime Video and NBCU: 7 Semifinals and 3 Finals each.
