Minnesota Lynx forward Napheesa Collier named as replacement player for A’ja Wilson in 2019 WNBA All-Star Game
WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert selected Minnesota Lynx forward Napheesa Collier as an injury replacement for Las Vegas Aces forward A’ja Wilson in the 2019 WNBA All-Star Game on Saturday, July 27. Wilson is sidelined with an ankle injury and wearing a boot. She is out indefinitely.
Collier becomes the first Lynx rookie since Maya Moore (2011) to be named to the All-Star Game.
As the two All-Star starters who finished with the most fan votes during WNBA All-Star Voting, Washington Mystics forward Elena Delle Donne and Wilson are team captains and will draft the All-Star Game rosters from the pool of players voted as starters and reserves on ESPN2, Tuesday, July 23, at 9:30 p.m. ET.
Delle Donne and Wilson will select their respective rosters in the WNBA All-Star Draft by choosing first from the remaining pool of eight starters. A player will be named to replace Wilson in the starting lineup by the head coach and Wilson.
