NCAA unveils second of three top 16 reveals for 2018, Notre Dame among top 4 seeds
The results of the second of three NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Championship Sport Committee top 16 reveals took place during halftime of the telecast of the Connecticut at South Carolina game Thursday evening. The reveals include the top-16 in seed order. Notre Dame took the place of Oregon among the No. 1 seeds. The Irish moved up two seed positions from the No. 6 slot from the first reveal announced on Jan. 18.
Per the NCAA: “The three top-16 announcements will have no bearing on the final 64-team field for the 2018 NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Championship that will be announced during the Selection Special on Monday, March 12 at 7 p.m. on ESPN.”
The remaining top-16 reveal is scheduled for Monday, Feb. 19, during ESPN2’s Big Monday/Play4Kay tripleheader that includes Florida State at Duke (6 p.m.), Baylor at Texas (8 p.m. ET) and UCLA at Oregon (10 p.m. ET).
