Georgia moves up three places; Stanford re-enters at No. 25

There was no movement among the top six teams over the last week in the Sport Tours International/Hoopfeed poll for Jan. 30. Connecticut, Mississippi State, Baylor, Louisville, Notre Dame and Oregon continued to lead the way.

After a rough and tumble 64-54 win over no. 13 Missouri on Sunday, South Carolina rose two spots to No. 7. The Gamecocks will face their toughest test of the regular season this week when they host UConn on Thursday.

Texas remained in the eighth spot while UCLA moved up three places to land back in the top ten at No. 9. The Bruins had a good weekend taking down Washington and Washington State.

Florida State fell three places to round out the top 10. The Seminoles lost to Notre Dame 100-69 on Sunday.

Ohio State fell three places to end up in a tie at No. 17 with Georgia. The Buckeyes began last week with a loss to Maryland followed by another defeat at Iowa.

Georgia, on the other hand, moved up three places after taking down Missouri and Florida in the past week.

Stanford re-entered the poll at No. 25. The Cardinal dominated both Arizona State and Arizona over the weekend. After taking down Arizona State 74-50 on Friday, Stanford followed up with a 79-42 rout of Arizona on Sunday.

Iowa dropped out of the poll. The Hawkeyes fell to Nebraska on Sunday, 92-74.

Other teams that received votes: Nebraska, Southern California, Arizona State, Florida Gulf Coast, South Florida, Virginia, Iowa and LSU.

The STI/Hoopfeed Poll is conducted weekly throughout the regular season using a panel of media members and other women’s basketball professionals. Total points are based on 25 points for first place through one point for 25th.
