Anucha Browne leaves NCAA, to Join UNICEF USA senior management team
The NCAA’s top women’s basketball executive, Anucha Browne, will be leaving the organization in the fall to serve on the senior management team of UNICEF USA. Browne has served as the NCAA’s Vice President of Women’s Basketball Championships since 2012.
“We have witnessed tremendous growth in the sport of women’s basketball and the championships and I will depart knowing that the game is in a great place,” said Browne. “Women’s basketball changed my life. To be in a position to lead it has been an honor. I’m grateful and appreciate the NCAA and President Mark Emmert for providing me the opportunity to work in this space and truly make a difference. I also appreciate the many stakeholders that we have partnered with over the past five years to raise the bar on the student-athlete experience. That being said, I am thankful and excited to soon be joining the UNICEF USA family. Supporting the world’s most vulnerable children is paramount and I have long had a passion for the renowned humanitarian work of UNICEF. An opportunity to impact the movement for children is a dream come true and I’m truly humbled. I look forward to these new challenges.”
With UNICEF, Browne will be the organization’s Chief Strategy and Engagement Officer beginning November 1, 2017. It is a newly created position and she will be responsible for overseeing the implementation and integration of the organization’s current and future strategic plans in support of its mission to save and protect the world’s most vulnerable children.
“We are thrilled to welcome Anucha to our Senior Management Team,” said Caryl M. Stern, President and CEO of UNICEF USA. “As a dynamic leader with a proven track record of driving business results and a demonstrated commitment to working with children, women and communities, Anucha brings valuable experience to the newly created Chief Strategy and Engagement Officer position. We look forward to having her on board as we continue our work to engage all Americans to put children first.”
