Indiana Fever guard Tiffany Mitchell to miss the remainder of 2017 season after sustaining torn cartilage and a bone bruise in her right knee
Indiana Fever guard Tiffany Mitchell will miss the remainder of the 2017 season after sustaining torn cartilage and a bone bruise in her right knee during practice last week at Bankers Life Fieldhouse. Other Fever with injuries include starter Shenise Johnson who is out with a torn ACL, and Maggie Lucas, prior to training camp, who re-injured the same ACL injury that kept her out most of the 2016 campaign. Point guard Briann January missed four games due to Achilles and knee problems.
Mitchell, a second-year pro out of South Carolina was averaging 10.3 points for the Fever with nine starts and appearances in 26 games prior to missing last Saturday’s loss at Washington. Johnson, who averaged 11.3 points through 14 games, underwent successful surgery last week. Surgical and rehab options are still being explored for Mitchell. Both are expected to return for the 2018 WNBA season.
