Chicago Sky Opens Training Camp, Four Players Still Overseas
The Chicago Sky opened training camp with new general manager and head coach, Amber Stocks. The Sky enter their 12th season following the franchise’s fourth consecutive playoff appearance.

The finalized preseason roster features nine returning players from the Sky’s 2016 season including Tamera Young, Imani Boyette, Cappie Pondexter, Betnijah Laney, Courtney Vandersloot, Jessica Breland, Jamierra Faulkner, Cheyenne Parker and Allie Quigley.
In the offseason the team acquired center Stefanie Dolson, standout rookie Kahleah Copper and DePaul alum Keisha Hampton. The Sky also added 2017 WNBA first-round draft picks, Alaina Coates and Tori Jankoska and third-round pick Makayla Epps.
- Coates will not participate in training camp due to her existing injury.
- Ndour, Quigley, Vandersloot and Copper will arrive later in training camp due to overseas obligations.
Other camp invitees competing for spots include Amber Harris, Rebekah Gardner, Yvonne Anderson and Destiny Williams. Harris, a 6’5 forward, was a first round pick by the Minnesota Lynx in the 2011 WNBA draft. Gardner, a 6’1 guard, played for Osmaniye in the Turkish Women’s Basketball League and Anderson, a 5’7 guard from the University of Texas at Austin, played for Galatasaray in the Turkish Women’s Basketball League.
The Sky will participate in a two-day preseason tournament at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, CT. The team will play the Connecticut Sun on May 2nd and the New York Liberty on May 3rd.
The roster will be finalized at 12 players by May 12, prior to the Sky’s season opener on May 14 on the road against the Minnesota Lynx.
