The Connecticut Sun signed Kelly Faris, Jennifer Hamson and Kayla Pedersen to training camp contracts.
From the Sun:
Kelly Faris has played in 112 games for the Sun after being selected 11th overall by Connecticut in the 2013 WNBA Draft. She has averaged 2.1 points and 1.6 rebounds in 11.7 minutes per game.
“Kelly is a tremendous competitor who won’t back down to anyone in the league,” said Sun head coach and general manager Curt Miller. “She is a pleasure to coach and I certainly appreciate everything she brings to our team and organization. She provides a consistent spark off the bench while giving her best each and every day.”
Jennifer Hamson spent the 2015 WNBA season with the Los Angeles Sparks, appearing in 25 games while averaging 1.6 points and 1.5 rebounds per game. The 6-foot-7 center was the WCC Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year during the 2013-14 season, her last at BYU.
“We are pleased to welcome Jen to the Connecticut family,” Miller said. “My assistant coach, Steve Smith, and I had the pleasure of working with Jen in Los Angeles during the 2015 season. She provides great rim protection at the defensive end while displaying an underrated offensive game. She is a fantastic teammate and will add to our outstanding locker room culture.”
Kayla Pedersen will be back in training camp for the Sun in 2017 after taking the previous season off to pursue other endeavors. Pedersen spent three seasons with the Sun after being traded from the Tulsa Shock during the 2013 season. In 89 games with the Sun, she averaged 2.3 points and 2.5 rebounds.
“We are thrilled to have Kayla Pedersen back in Connecticut,” said Miller. “She is a versatile post player who can help provide veteran leadership to our young post game. She has a great reputation throughout our organization and is truly excited about the opportunity to be back and competing for a spot on the team.”
