When No. 1 Notre Dame traveled to Houston for a Tuesday game against versus Louisiana-Lafayette at the M.O. Campbell Educational Center, the matchup was also supposed to be a homecoming for Brianna Turner. The junior forward grew up in the Houston suburb of Pearland. However, with the the Irish leading, 38-17, at the 2:38 mark in the second quarter, the power went out in the area.
After electricians came to the site and reviewed the situation, the game was moved to Rice University. Unfortunately for Turner’s family and other fans, no one except the teams were allowed at the Rice’s Tudor Fieldhouse. Former Notre Dame star and Dallas Wings guard Skylar Diggins was at the game before it moved; no word on whether she was allowed to view the continuation at Rice.
Notre Dame won 91-51. Turner came off the bench for 16 points and 12 rebounds. Marina Mabrey led the Irish with 27 points.
