NBC announced that Ros Gold-Onwude will handle sideline reporting for Team USA men’s basketball games during the Rio Games. Previously, Craig Sager was slated to be the men’s team sideline reporter but unfortunately the veteran broadcaster will not be going to Rio due to the need for a bone marrow transplant.
Former Stanford player Gold-Onwude is the sideline reporter for the Golden State Warriers and an analyst for the New York Liberty. She also works for the Pac-12 and ESPN during the college season.
Kerith Burke will take over sideline duties for Team USA women’s basketball games. She is an anchor and reporter for SNY in New York. Her duties include sideline reporting of University of Connecticut men’s and women’s basketball.
The opening ceremony of the Games of the XXXI Olympiad is Friday, August 5, on NBC.
