Private funeral held for Pat Summitt
Basketball icon Pat Summitt was laid to rest Thursday in a private funeral for family and friends in Clarksville, TN. A public memorial service is set for Thursday, July 14 in Knoxville at Thompson-Boling Arena at 7 p.m. ET.
Former Lady Vol Michelle Marciniak and a niece of Summitt’s delivered eulogies. Marciniak, Tennessee head coach Holly Warlick and former Lady Vol great Chamique Holdsclaw posted messages on social media about the service.

The Pat Summitt Foundation announced that it will be selling commemorative t-shirts with almost 100 percent of the proceeds going to the organization’s effort to fight Alzheimer’s. The shirt features an image of Summitt reaching towards the statue of herself at Pat Summitt Plaza on the UT campus. The shirts will only be available for a limited time. The foundation also issued a statement that urges fans to be aware of merchandise sold online with unauthorized images of Summitt.
