Phoenix trades Monique Currie to San Antonio in exchange for a 2017 2nd round pick

From the Mercury:

The three-time WNBA Champion Phoenix Mercury acquired a 2017 second-round draft pick from the San Antonio Stars in exchange for guard Monique Currie.

“This was a difficult trade to make because Monique made great contributions for us last season and because she’s so well-liked by her teammates and our staff,” said Mercury General Manager Jim Pitman. “Ultimately, though, this trade gives us flexibility now and in the future, and provides an opportunity for some of the young players who we are so excited to have added to the best veteran core in the WNBA.”

Currie signed as a free agent with Phoenix on February 5, 2014, and averaged 8.4 points and 5.1 rebounds in 34 games in her only season with the Mercury in 2015.
