Geno Auriemma hospitalized, resting comfortably under observation
4/19 Update from UConn: Geno Auriemma returned home from the hospital on Tuesday morning. He is feeling better and enjoying some time with his family. Coach Auriemma and his family wish to express their appreciation and gratitude to everyone for their thoughts and prayers. In an effort to respect the Auriemma family’s privacy, UConn will have no further comment.Â
4/16: After UConn coach Geno Auriemma de-boarded a plane earlier today because he was not feeling well, he headed to the hospital. The school issued the following statement regarding Auriemma’s health.
After boarding a plane at Bradley International Airport on Saturday morning, UConn head women’s basketball coach Geno Auriemma decided to deplane because he was not feeling well. Coach Auriemma had been ill for the last several days and was brought to the hospital for observation where he is resting comfortably.
The University will have no further comment on this matter and we ask that people please respect the Auriemma family’s privacy.
Due to illness, the coach missed his team’s victory parade in Hartford on April 10 to celebrate winning a fourth consecutive and 11th overall NCAA basketball championship.
