Connecticut Sun signs forward/center Aneika Henry to a two-year contract
From the Sun:
The Connecticut Sun has signed former Atlanta Dream forward/center Aneika Henry to a two-year contract. Per team policy, terms were not released.
The 6-foot-4 Henry appeared in 131 regular season games with 30 starts over the past four seasons in Atlanta, averaging 4.6 points and four rebounds per game.
“We are excited to welcome Aneika Henry to the Sun,” said Sun head coach Curt Miller. “She is a veteran WNBA center with post season experience. She brings us a physical presence in the paint and she is a proven rebounder. She has a great reputation with her teammates and will be a great addition to our culture in the locker room.”
Last year, Henry averaged career-highs of 5.2 points and 4.7 rebounds in 29 games. She had a career-high 16 points in a 76-72 win at Los Angeles on July 16th, and scored in double figures four times. She also had a season-high 10 rebounds in a 73-67 win over Washington on September 6th.
Henry has also put up solid numbers in the playoffs. In 2013, she had 14 points and 14 rebounds in Game 1 of the WNBA Finals against Minnesota. She averaged 6.1 points and 6.6 rebounds during the 2013 postseason, and 6.3 points during three playoff games in 2014.
