Madison Square Garden Company partnership with Resorts World Casino includes deal to make casino sponsor of Liberty Pride Month
The New York Knicks, New York Rangers and New York Liberty announced a multi-year marketing partnership with Resorts World Casino New York City. The casino operates in Jamaica, Queens and features slot machines and virtual dealers for poker, roulette, baccarat and blackjack.
As part of its marketing partnership, Resorts World Casino New York City will enjoy significant brand exposure during games. This includes in-arena identification signage at the Blue Seats, in-arena LED signage, features on Madison Square Garden’s multimedia display known as Gardenvision, digital and social media sweepstakes, alumni appearances, designation as the presenting partner of New York Liberty Pride Month and branding on the Liberty Mega T-shirt machine.
From the MSG release:
“We’re thrilled that Resorts World Casino New York City has seen the value of its partnership with the New York Liberty and decided to expand its affiliation to become official partners of the New York Knicks and New York Rangers,” said Ron Skotarczak, executive vice president, marketing partnerships, The Madison Square Garden Company. “The Knicks, Rangers and Liberty have some of the most loyal fan bases in professional sports and many of our franchises’ biggest fans are dedicated to sitting in the renowned Blue Seats, which are now represented by a terrific partner.”
“Resorts World Casino and fans of the Rangers, Knicks and Liberty care about one thing above all else, and that’s winning, making this the perfect team,” said Brad Egnor, Vice President of Marketing at Resorts World. “Partnering with the iconic teams provides us with the unique opportunity to introduce our exciting gaming and entertainment options to New York’s legendary sports fan bases and we look forward to being part of The World’s Most Famous Arena.”
This is not the first time that the Liberty has been associated with a gambling-related entity. Last season, DraftKings, a daily fantasy sports gambling site, became the marquee partner of the franchise. The DraftKings logo appears on the Liberty’s home and road uniforms and shooting shirts.
Foxwoods Casino was the marquee partner of the Liberty for two years, from 2010 to 2012. The deal included having the casino’s logo on the team’s jerseys.
Before the Dallas Wings moved from Oklahoma, the franchise (when known as the Tulsa Shock) had the logo of Osage Casino on its jerseys.
The Phoenix Mercury’s marquee partner includes Casino Arizona and Talking Stick Resort. The logo for Casino Arizona and Talking Stick Resort appears on the front of the Mercury’s home and away jerseys as well as on the team’s warm-ups.
