AP Poll – Jan. 18, 2016 – Duke falls out of top 25 for first time since 1999, WVU enters at No. 25
Notes
- Duke (13-6) fell out of the poll for the first time since 1999, ending a streak of 312 straight weeks in the top 25. The Blue Devils lost to North Carolina State and Louisville last week. Other defeats this season have come at the hands of Syracuse, Kentucky, South Carolina and Texas A&M.
- West Virginia entered the poll at No. 25. The Mountaineers (15-4) returned to the poll for the first time since being ranked No. 21 on Dec. 22, 2014. The program is coming off a 72-35 win over Kansas on Saturday and a narrow five-point loss at No. 4-ranked Baylor earlier in the week.
- Texas fell from No. 4 to No. 6 after a loss to Baylor yesterday. Baylor ascended to No. 4. UConn, South Carolina and Notre Dame continue to hold the top three spots.
- Previous No. 25 USC also fell out of the poll. The Trojans fell to unranked Pac-12 foes Washington State and Washington on the road last week.
- No. 18 and No. 19 Oklahoma both fell five spots. The Lady Vols lost to Arkansas on the road over the weekend while Oklahoma suffered a defeat at Oklahoma State.
- No. 17 Louisville moved up six spots and Miami (FL) landed at No. 16 after moving up five spots. South Florida gained four places to end up at No. 15.
- DePaul re-entered the poll at No. 24. The Blue Demons notched wins over Butler and Xavier last week. The win at Butler marked the 600th career-win for head coach Doug Bruno.
