WNBA and NBA statement regarding Gilbert Arenas’s comments
Former NBA player Gilbert Arenas landed in headlines this week after posting sexist, misogynistic and factually inaccurate comments about WNBA players on his Instagram account. The following statement is from league spokesman Mike Bass on behalf of the WNBA and NBA:
“Gilbert Arenas’s comments are repugnant, utterly disrespectful and flat-out wrong. WNBA players are strong, talented and determined individuals who give it their all on the court and serve as inspiring role models to millions around the world. They should be celebrated for their accomplishments, not disparaged with ignorant insults.”
Some WNBA players also responded to Arenas’s idiotic words:
People keep sending me this Gilbert arenas post, but I don't care! He obviously needs a hug& attention so y'all give it to him! ??
