Frontier Communications becomes marquee sponsor of Connecticut Sun
From the team:
The Connecticut Sun announced today it has reached a multi-year agreement with Frontier Communications, making them the marquee sponsor of the state’s only major professional sports franchise, the Connecticut Sun.
This partnership with the Connecticut-based company aligns one of the leading providers of communications services with one of the largest, most spectacular entertainment, gaming, dining and shopping destinations in the United States.
The Frontier logo will be prominently positioned on the front of Connecticut Sun home and road jerseys, where it will be visible to consumers in New England as well as in the 11 other WNBA markets across the United States.
Additionally, the Frontier brand will be showcased on the basketball stanchions at each end of the court, and in LED, rotational and courtside signage at all Connecticut Sun home games. It will also be included in Sun television broadcasts and team merchandise, and links will be placed on the team website.
“This is the culmination of many years of hard work, and we believe we could not have found a better partner than Frontier Communications as we join the eight other teams in the WNBA that have marquee agreements,” said MTGA and Connecticut Sun CEO Mitchell Etess, who noted the relationship extends beyond the basketball court. “In addition to the increased brand visibility that comes with this sponsorship, Frontier Communications will also enjoy access to many of the amenities that have made Mohegan Sun the leader in entertainment, gaming and hospitality on the east coast. We are extremely proud of this new partnership.”
This is the first marquee sponsorship in the history of the Connecticut Sun, the first independently-owned WNBA franchise. Originally the Orlando Miracle, the Sun was purchased and relocated to Connecticut by the Mohegan Tribe in 2003. The team is currently in its 13th season at Mohegan Sun Arena.
“Frontier Communications is thrilled to be on the team with the Connecticut Sun,” said Frontier East Region President Ken Arndt. “Our new and exciting partnership with the WNBA’s only franchise in Connecticut is a win-win for everyone on and off the court. As a company we champion many of the same values as the Mohegan Tribe across the 28 states we serve, including Pennsylvania, where Frontier has enjoyed a rich partnership with the Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs, and we are looking forward to a similar relationship between Frontier and Connecticut’s Mohegan Sun.”
Regional VP of Marketing for Frontier Kira Howell said, “Frontier is celebrating our new sponsorship with the Connecticut Sun and we encourage our employees, customers and residents in the state to join us here at the Mohegan Sun Arena as we root for our home team and watch this world class women’s basketball team at play.”
