Eboniey Jeter, a 21-year-old redshirt sophomore for the University of North Texas, was found dead in her dorm room Tuesday morning. The time of death was 8:36 a.m., according to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner.
We are deeply saddened and heartbroken by the passing of Eboniey Jeter,” said UNT athletic director Rick Villarreal in a statement. “She was a great young lady and a tremendous competitor, but most of all she was a trusted teammate on the women’s basketball team and a respected member of the Mean Green family. As we deal with this loss, we would like to extend our deepest condolences to Eboniey’s family, relatives and friends. North Texas won’t be the same without her as we have lost a friend and loved one.”
The 6-0 forward was from Killeen where she was a standout at Harker Heights High School. She avered 5.9 points and 5.7 rebounds per game for UNT. She started in 21 of 29 games last season. She scored double figures in six games.
