Arizona AD: Niya Butts to remain as head coach for at least another year
Arizona closed out the year losing in the first round of the Pac-12 tournament to UCLA Thursday as the No. 11 seed. The Wildcats finished with a 10-20 record, going 3-15 in conference play. Last year the program hit a program low for loses with only five wins and a 1-17 conference record.
The school’s athletic director Greg Byrne issued this statement regarding Butts on Saturday:
“After evaluating our women’s basketball program and head coach Niya Butts, we have determined that Coach Butts will continue as our head coach. Although the program is not currently where I want it to be from a win-loss perspective, we signed Coach Butts to a five-year contract and we believe she should be able to see it through.”
