Katie Lou Samuelson is the 2015 WBCA High School Player of the Year, WBCA High School All-America Team announced

Katie Lou Samuelson of Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana, California, is the 2015 WBCA High School Player of the Year and headlines the 2015 WBCA High School All-America Team, the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association announced today.
Samuelson, a 6-foot-3 senior forward who is averaging 29.3 points per game, 8.5 rebounds per game and 2.4 steals per game, has signed with Connecticut.
“Congratulations to Katie Lou for earning the top award for high school basketball players,” said WBCA Executive Director Danielle Donehew. “Katie Lou has set the bar for current and future high school student-athletes across the country with her determination and excellence on the court, and her grace off of it. The WBCA wishes Katie Lou the best on her future.”

“The 10 members of this year’s High School All-America Team have each showcased their immense on-court talents. These student-athletes have been exceptional leaders for their respective teams and elevated the game of girls’ and women’s basketball as the sport continues to grow,” said Donehew.
Any graduating senior can be nominated for the WBCA High School All-America Team by a high school or AAU coach who is an active WBCA member. College coaches are not eligible to nominate a player for consideration. The 10-player All-America team and a 20-player honorable mention team are selected from the nominees by a committee composed of WBCA-member girls’ high school basketball coaches who represent nine geographical districts across the country.
