PALO ALTO, Calif. – In a Sunday afternoon contest, Stanford looks to sweep Cal for the 22nd time while the Bears hope to recover from losing in the first round of the Battle of the Bay last Wednesday.
Stanford leads the all-time series 63-18 and hold a 36-7 advantage in Palo Alto. The Cardinal swept the series last season with wins of 70-64 and 79-64.
Stanford is coming off a 59-47 over Cal in Haas Pavilion on Wednesday night. With the win, they clinched a top-four seed and first-round bye in the Pac-12 Tournament and reached the 20-win plateau for the 14th straight season. A Cal win will secure the Golden Bears a first round bye as well. It would also be the Bears’ first win over Stanford at Maples Pavilion since the historic 67-55 win on Jan. 13, 2013 that ended Stanford’s record 81-game conference winning streak.
The game will be the Cardinal’s regular season home finale, its annual Pink Game to benefit breast cancer awareness and Senior Day. Stanford’s six departing seniors include Jasmine Camp, Alex Green, Taylor Greenfield, Amber Orrange, Erica Payne and Bonnie Samuelson.
