Spokane named as a regional host for 2015 DI WBB Championship, replaces Sacramento
From the NCAA:
The NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Committee has selected Spokane, Wash. and Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena as a regional host site for the 2015 NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Championship. The Spokane Regional semifinal games, hosted by Washington State University, will be played either March 27 or 28, with the finals held March 29 or 30. The winner of the regional will advance to the 2015 Women’s Final Four in Tampa Bay, Fla. on April 5 and 7.
“Spokane has proven to be a great host for our championship in the past and we are excited to be making a return next March,” said Carolayne Henry, chair of the Division I Women’s Basketball Committee and senior associate commissioner of the Mountain West Conference. “We appreciate Washington State University stepping forward to host as we know that our student-athletes and fans will enjoy a first-class experience.”
Spokane was named to replace Sacramento, Calif., which had been earlier identified to host the regional championship. A scheduling conflict at Sacramento’s Sleep Train Arena prevented the regional from being played there in 2015.
The 2015 Spokane Regional will be the fifth NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Championship event hosted at the Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena, with the facility hosting regional round play in 2001, 2008, 2013 and first- and second-round action in 2011.
