Magic Johnson and Los Angeles Dodgers chairman Mark Walter to purchase the Los Angeles Sparks

Magic Johnson and Los Angeles Dodgers chairman Mark Walter are buying the Los Angeles Sparks according to ESPN Los Angeles. Earlier today, the team’s longtime announcer, Larry Burnett, wrote on his Facebook page that the Sparks were set to hold a press conference on Wednesday morning to announce a new ownership group.

In early January, fans learned that former Sparks majority owner Paula Madison walked away from the team, leaving the franchise in limbo and the league scrambling for buyers. All of the team’s front office staff including head coach Carol Ross plus her assistants were laid off.
