Elena Delle Donne named Rookie of the Month for July

Chicago Sky guard/forward Elena Delle Donne has been named Rookie of the Month for games played in July. This marks the second consecutive Rookie of the Month honor for Delle Donne.
During July, Delle Donne led all rookies in scoring (16.4 ppg), free throw percentage (.909, 40-for-44), minutes (30.8 mpg), blocks (1.6 bpg), and ranked second in rebounds (5.4 rpg). Overall, she placed eighth in scoring, seventh in free throw percentage, and second in blocks. Delle Donne recorded her first double-double of the season with a career-high 12 rebounds along with 12 points in a 69-60 loss to Seattle on July 2. The 6-5 Delaware native also matched a career high four blocks in back-to-back victories over the New York Liberty on July 18 and 20.
The leading vote-getter for the 2013 WNBA All-Star Game, Delle Donne closed out the first half of the season posting double-digit points in all but one of the Sky’s 17 games, leading the team to an Eastern Conference best 12-5 record.

- July 2 vs. Seattle: Double-double with a career-high 12 rebounds and 12 points in a 69-60 loss.
- July 12 vs. Connecticut: 23 points on 9-for-9 free throw shooting in an 83-70 win.
- July 18 vs. New York: Tied a career high four blocks along with 23 points and six rebounds in a 75-55 win.
