Mystics rally from 21 down to defeat Sky, Chicago rookie Elena Delle Donne suffers concussion
The Washington Mystics (9-9) overcame a slow start and a 21-point deficit to defeat the Chicago Sky (12-5) in a matinee game at the Verizon Center. Guard Ivory Latta led the Mystics with 18 points along with a season-high 13 assists. Monique Currie added 14 points plus nine rebounds. Rookies Emma Meesseman and Taylor Hill scored 12 and 11 points respectively.
Chicago Sky All-Star rookie and first round draft pick Elena Delle Donne suffered a concussion in the third quarter. She did not return to the game. She matched her season-low with 12 points. Sylvia Fowles led the Sky with 21 points and nine rebounds. Epiphanny Prince had 18 while veteran Swin Cash scored 10 points.
After the All-Star break, the Mystics will host the New York Liberty on July 31. Chicago hosts Washington on Friday, August 2.
