Silver Stars sign former Missouri player & San Antonio native Christine Flores

The San Antonio Silver Stars have signed San Antonio native Christine Flores, head coach and general manager Dan Hughes announced today. Per team policy, terms of the contract were not disclosed.

A 6-3 forward, Flores was selected by the Phoenix Mercury in the third round (30th overall) of the 2012 WNBA Draft out of the University of Missouri. An All-Big 12 Second Team selection, Flores ranked second in the Big 12 in scoring (16.9) and blocks (3.0) during her senior season. Following her junior season, Flores represented USA Basketball as a member of the 2011 Pan American Games team where she averaged 6.5 points and 3.3 rebounds four games.

The 2007 San Antonio Express-News Player of the Year, Flores set the Winston Churchill High School all-time scoring record with 1,998 career points. She averaged 21.0 points and 12.0 rebounds as a senior, leading the Chargers to a 25-9 overall record in 2008.

Flores just completed her first professional season overseas with Israel’s Galil Elion where she averaged 16.5 points, 10.4 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 2.3 blocks and 1.5 steals while shooting 51.1 percent from the field through 19 Israeli League games.

The Silver Stars tip-off the 2013 season against the defending champion Indiana Fever on Friday, May 24 at the AT&T Center at 7 p.m.
