Indiana Fever’s Katie Douglas recovering from ankle surgery
From the Fever:
Indiana Fever star guard/forward Katie Douglas is recovering from ankle surgery performed by Dr. David Porter. Surgery was performed to remove a bone chip and repair a torn tendon. Rehabilitation is expected to last 6-to-8 weeks before she can resume playing. She is expected to be ready for the 2013 WNBA season.
Douglas, injured just moments into the deciding game of the Eastern Conference Finals at Connecticut, Oct. 5, was the Fever’s leading playoffs scorer at the time of her injury, averaging 15.5 points through six playoff games. She boasted a 16.5-point average during her 12th season in the WNBA. With Douglas on the sidelines, the Fever beat Connecticut 87-71 to advance to the WNBA Finals, where it dispatched the defending champion Minnesota Lynx, 2-1 in a best-of-five series, to win its first WNBA Championship in front of a pair of sellout crowds at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.
