WNBA Playoffs: Fever and Lynx advance; conference finals set
Four Fever players were in double figures in Indiana’s victory over the Atlanta Dream to advance to the Eastern Conference finals. Katie Douglas led her team with 24 points and Erlana Larkins grabbed a career-high 20 rebounds in the game, tying a Fever franchise record, to go along with her 16 points. Tamika Catchings contributed 16 points, 11 rebounds and four blocks. Briann January added 16 points. [Video recap]
Lindsey Harding led Atlanta with 17 points.
The Fever next travels to Connecticut on Friday for the first game of the Eastern Conference finals. They return to Indiana for their only home game of the series on Monday, October 8.
The Minnesota Lynx beat the Seattle Storm at home for the seventh straight time and improved to 18-1 at Target Center this season with a 73-72 win in Game 3 of the Western Conference semifinals. Maya Moore and Seimone Augustus combined for 41 points. The Lynx bounced back from a double-overtime loss in game 2 to win the best-of-3 series. The Lynx advance to the Western Conference finals for the second consecutive season. [Video recap]
Augustus finished with 21 points and four rebounds. Moore contributed 20 plus six rebounds.
The Lynx will face the Los Angeles Sparks, who advanced after beating the San Antonio Silver Stars on Saturday to finish a two-game sweep. Game 1 of the Western Conference finals begins Thursday, October 4 in Minneapolis.
