Big 12 coaches tab Baylor to win 2013 league title
Big 12 women’s basketball coaches selected Baylor as the preseason favorite to win the 2012-13 regular season league title. Baylor tops the preseason poll for the fourth consecutive year and fifth time in conference history.
Coaches cannot vote for their own team and the Lady Bears received nine of 10 first-place votes. Baylor captured both the Big 12 regular season and postseason titles a year ago. The team also won the national title in 2012 and earned the nation’s first 40-0 record. Oklahoma State completed a postseason title sweep for the Big 12 by winning the WNIT. Iowa State, Kansas, K-State, Oklahoma, Texas and new Conference member West Virginia were also NCAA Tournament teams in 2012.
The Big 12 was ranked No. 1 in conference RPI for the past five seasons and has led the nation in attendance 13 consecutive years.
