The New York Liberty sign guard/forward Katelan Redmon
From the Liberty:
The New York Liberty have acquired guard/forward Katelan Redmon through free agency. The announcement was made today by Head Coach and General Manager John Whisenant. Conditions of the contract were not released, per team policy.
Redmon, a rookie out of Gonzaga, was drafted by the Liberty with the 36th selection in the third round of the 2012 WNBA Draft. Appearing in one preseason game with New York, she recorded 10 points on 5-6 shooting from the field, three rebounds and one assist in 16 minutes of play versus the Connecticut Sun on May 7. She was waived on May 27.
“We were impressed with Katelan during training camp and are happy to have the opportunity to bring her back to New York,” said Head Coach John Whisenant. “We know she will come in and do the things we ask of her, and her ability to score will definitely bring a needed burst of energy off the bench.”
Redmon, a 6-1 guard/forward, began her collegiate career at the University of Washington where she was named to the Pacific-10 All-Freshman Team, leading the squad in scoring (11.8 ppg). She played her final two collegiate seasons at Gonzaga, averaging 14.0 ppg. In her final season she was named to the All-West Coast Conference Team becoming one of five players in Gonzaga history to score 600 or more points in a season, finishing with 600.
