Photo gallery: Waco celebrates Baylor with a parade and proclamation

While much of the women’s basketball world had their attention focused on the WNBA draft on Monday, central Texas fans of the Baylor Lady Bears, the 2012 NCAA Women’s Basketball National Champions, lined Austin Avenue in Waco to celebrate the team’s title.

Players rode in Corvettes and threw candy to fans. A short program at the city’s Heritage Park followed the parade. Waco mayor Jim Bush, read a proclamation proclaiming April 16, 2012 as “Baylor University Lady Bears 2012 NCAA Women’s Basketball National Championship Day” during the ceremony.
