Maryland and Notre Dame prevail in Raleigh, UConn and Kentucky win in Kingston
The top two seeds in the Raleigh and Kingston Regions of the NCAA Division I tournament came out on top in Sunday’s matchups.  Maryland defeated the defending national champions, Texas A&M, with an 81-74 victory. Alyssa Thomas and Laurin Mincy scored 21 points each to propel the Terps into the Elite Eight.
Notre Dame followed up with a rout of Atlantic 10 Cinderella, St. Bonaventure. The Irish took no mercy on the Bonnies in the 79-35 victory.
Big East beat Big Ten in the afternoon’s first game in the Kingston region. Connecticut beat Penn State 77-59 to advance to the Elite Eight. Kentucky joined fellow SEC member Tennessee in the last eight standing after defeating Gonzaga, 79-52.
