Baylor ends regular season undefeated after win over Iowa State
WACO, Texas – Iowa State gave No. 1 Baylor a run for their money Saturday afternoon in Waco in front of 9,435 fans but in the end the Lady Bears finished their regular season undefeated, 31-0. The 77-53 victory came after the Cyclones ended the first half tied with Baylor at 32.
Lady Bear Brittney Griner recorded a career-high 41 points to go along with her eight rebounds in 37 minutes.
“She just keeps getting better,” said ISU head coach Bill Fennelly. “She’s not just a tall kid, she’s a basketball player..footwork is good, timing is good….The game seems to slow down for her. She’s just a great player.”
Destiny Williams was also in double figures for Baylor with 15 plus 11 rebounds.
For ISU, Anna Prins led with 17 points including four treys. She also had seven rebounds. Point guard Nikki Moody finished with 12 points and four assists.
The 31 wins is the best in Baylor program history and keeps the Lady Bears as the only undefeated team in NCAA Division I. The record is also a Big 12 record besting Nebraska’s 30-0 mark in 2009-10.
