Quick hit: Is banning athletes from Twitter a good strategy?

A commenter on an article about North Carolina women’s basketball ban of Twitter usage provides a counter view:

Twitter is merely a tool. Like any tool, it can be used for productivity or it can be used unproductively. An outright ban of Twitter is nothing short of ignorance. Social networking is not going away – if college athletes can’t figure out how to appropriately use social networking services, then they should be TAUGHT how to do so. They are [at] the university to LEARN, correct?
