Griner leads No. 1 Baylor in rout of Kansas State, 76-41
WACO, Texas – After watching men’s basketball games on television all afternoon Baylor coach Kim Mulkey arrived to the Ferrell Center riled up. She was especially energized by the fact that the Baylor men’s team lost by just one point, 89-88, to Missouri in the first game of a double-header in Waco.
Her team delivered and the Lady Bears came through with a resounding victory over Kansas State, 76-41 in front of  9,380 fans, many who were holdovers from the men’s game.
“I liked everything about the night,” said Mulkey in reference to her squad’s play and the fan turnout. “I was concerned about the double-header and the gap [between games].”
Led by Brittney Griner who had 22 points and 12 rebounds in only 29 minutes of play, the Lady Bears coasted to their 19th win of the season, staying undefeated for the best start in program history. Kimetria Hayden contributed 11 points and seven rebounds for her seventh double-digit performance of the season.
Brittany Chambers led Kansas State (13-5, 4-2) with 16 points and six rebounds. Tasha Dickey finished with 1o points and four rebounds for the Wildcats.
