Clayton State beats Michigan Tech for DII National Title
Clayton State University defeated Michigan Tech Friday night 69-50 in St. Joseph, Missouri winning the 2011 Division II Women’s Basketball National Title.
Teshymia Tillman scored 26 points to lead the Lakers (35-1) to the first title for any team in the school’s athletic program and the first for any four-year college women’s basketball program in Georgia. Tillman also pulled down seven rebounds. Drameka Griggs added 12 points
Lisa Staehlin had 18 points for Michigan Tech (31-3) and Sam Hoyt added 11.
The Lakers went into the break with a 31-24 lead after holding the Huskies to 34.5 percent shooting in the first half.
