UConn extends its streak with win over Baylor
Top-ranked Connecticut (2-0) extended its winning streak to 80 in a win over the No. 2 team, the Baylor Lady Bears (3-1) on Tuesday night in Hartford. It was the first time the two teams played each other during the regular season. UConn beat Baylor in last season’s Final Four of the NCAA tournament.
Senior Maya Moore had 30 points in the 65-64 victory. Baylor freshman Odyssey Sims missed a shot on the buzzer. She finished with 17 points. Lady Bears sophomore Brittney Griner led Baylor with 19 points. She also had nine blocks and seven rebounds. Sophomore Kimetria Hayden added 15.
For the winning team, Tiffany Hayes added 16 points. UConn pulled out the victory even though two Huskies fouled out: freshmen Stefanie Dolson and Samarie Walker.
