After historic season, Fever owners look to the future

indfever_thumb.pngShortly before the beginning of the recently ended WNBA season, the future of the Indiana Fever looked bleak. Team owners admitted that they were not sure if they would keep the team afloat as it was losing money. The team began the summer losing several games but by mid-season, head coach Lin Dunn managed to turn the squad around. They ended the season as the Eastern Conference Champions., going to the WNBA Finals for the first time in franchise history.

Team owners release a letter today assuring fans that the team will be around for the 2010 season.

We have just experienced the most exciting season in Indiana Fever history. We are so grateful and proud of our fans and corporate partners. The community came together in a remarkable way to support our players and coaches.

We are committed to the future success of this franchise in Indianapolis. We look forward to another great season in 2010 and for many years to come.

We came so close to a WNBA Championship, and we are going to do everything possible to continue to be the best team in the WNBA. Thank you so much for your dedication, loyalty and enthusiasm. With your help, the Fever set a WNBA Playoffs average attendance record, and created excitement throughout the community. Further, the television ratings reached record levels, and raised the visibility of the WNBA and Fever throughout the country.

We are incredibly proud of the Indiana Fever and our terrific community, and we need your continued support.
