Yesterday after the Connecticut Sun practiced, the team held media day. Practice was open to the public and fans had a chance to see Sun draftees and free agents who are fighting for a roster spot in training camp. The team has one more open practice scheduled for Thursday, May 3 at 6 p.m. on the campus of St. Joseph College in West Hartford.

Newcomers include:

• Astan Dabo (Mali), 9th pick in the first round of the WNBA draft.
• Chay Shegog (North Carolina), 9th pick (21st overall) in the second round of the WNBA draft.
• Stefanie Murphy (Boston College), training camp invitee.
• Dawn Evans (James Madison). The Sun signed her to a training camp contract on March 16.
• Free agent Sidney Spencer, signed to a two-year contract on February 28.
• Free agent Mistie Mims (formerly Bass), signed to a two-year contract on February 6.

The Sun hosts preseason games against the New York Liberty at 7 p.m. ET on May 7 and the Minnesota Lynx at 7 p.m. ET on May 10. They open their 10th regular season on May 19 at New York then return home to host the Liberty the next day at Mohegan Sun Arena at 5 p.m. ET
