Purdue wins Preseason WNIT, moves to 4-0 on the season
Purdue won the Preseason WNIT beating DePaul 67-58. The Boilermakers move to 4-0 on the season.
Brittany Rayburn led Purdue with 21 points and was named the tournament MVP. Forward Drey Mingo was named to the all-tournament team. She finished the game with 21 points and 13 rebounds for her first career double-double. Mingo also hit a career-best three of three from the three-point line. Freshman Courtney Moses also finished in double digits with 11 points.
For DePaul, three players finished with double-digit points. Keisha Hampton, also named to the WNIT All-Tournament Team, had 15 points and five rebounds. Sam Quiqley totaled 13 and Anna Martin ended with 12.
It is the second Preseason WNIT title for head coach Sharon Versyp at Purdue, the first was in 2006 in Versyp’s first season as head coach.
The next game for the Boilermakers will be against Montana in the Caribbean Challenge, at 10 p.m. on Nov. 25, in Cancun, Mexico.
